K-2 Kid’s Club – Tuesday,
January 6 at 4 pm. This club is for children in Kindergarten – 2nd
grade. Join us as we explore and discuss easy fiction picture books
and do a corresponding activity. There is no pre-reading of book
required. No registration is required.
Drop-in Storytime – Wednesday,
January 7 at 9:30 and 10:30 am. Families are invited to join us
for storytime.
The Fantasy & Science Fiction Book Club,
a book club for 6th-8th graders, will meet on
Wednesday, January 7 at 4:30 pm. Does the unreal seem
possible when you open a book? It does in our book club! If you like
to read Science Fiction or Fantasy – or want to start – then come
join us. Snacks will be served, and you
can also pick up the book for the next meeting..
3rd-5th Reader’s
Club -Thursday, January 8 at 4 pm. Join us as
we explore and discuss juvenile fiction chapter books and do a
corresponding activity. January’s book is “The Twenty-One Balloons”
by William Pene du Bois. No registration is necessary.
Film Night:
“Get Smart” – Thursday,
January 8 at 6:30 pm. Come
watch the film starring Steve Carrell, and join us for a lively
discussion afterward. Rated PG-13.

Winter Reading Program. Chilly
outside? It's perfect weather for catching up on reading. From
January 12 to February 28, challenge yourself to read three
books, and we'll reward you with a High Plains Library District mug
for your favorite hot beverage. Sign up online at www.MyLibrary.us,
or in person. Pick up a bookmark reading log to track your progress,
or use the online tracking system.
“Books
to Film” Teen Reading Group - Monday, January 12
from 5-7:30 pm. Join us each month as
we discuss a book, watch the movie, and then compare the two! This
month we’ll watch and discuss “Journey to the Center of the Earth”
by Jules Verne.

Financial Fitness: Protect Your Identity
– Wednesday, January 14 at 1pm.
Learn how to deter, detect, and defend
against identity theft. People whose identities have been stolen can
spend months or years – and thousands of dollars – cleaning up the
mess from identity theft. Registration is required.
Paws to Read - Wednesday,
January 14 at 6:30 pm. This program will give our young
readers a chance to read out loud in a stress-free environment to
some very attentive listeners. Each participant will be given a 15
minute time slot to share a story with one of our furry friends.
Registration will open on December 31. Space is limited, so please
register early by coming in or calling the Carbon Valley Regional
Library at 720-685-5200.
No school today? Need something fun to do?
Join us for a special hands-on activity that will help you pass the
time and learn something new. Drop in anytime from 1-4 pm on
Monday, January 19 for our No School Day Activity.
Digital Television (DTV) Transition
Seminar – Monday, January 19 at 6 pm. Join us to hear from a
Radio Shack representative who will talk about the transition to
digital television beginning February 17, 2009. This transition will
affect analog TV sets that do not receive signal from a cable or
satellite service provider. The seminar will discuss how the
transition will affect TV viewers, the equipment needed to receive
the new digital signal, and how to receive a $40 coupon good toward
the purchase of a DTV Converter Box.

for some fun and games with the Wii.

will have the opportunity to participate in a “Letter to the
President” writing project, and children will take part in their own
related activity. Snacks will be provided.
Popular Fiction Book Club
- Wednesday, January 21, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm.
Bring your sack lunch; we’ll provide the beverages. Each month we'll
select a new novel. Group is limited to 10 participants.

book by YA author Diana Wynne Jones.
